Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.
The Indian brand, Bacca Bucci, where I fell on its feet. That turned out to be the fitting purchase which protected my feet on every step of the Himalayan trekking.
Unpredictable weather conditions on uneven sprawling routes required a sustainable pair of shoes that withstand rainy damp pathways under susceptible snowfalls. It needed waterproof material and firm grips on the sole. At par with warm clothing and a raincoat, my prime focus was reliable sturdy shoes to gauge the traits of the terrain.

Bacca Bucci gave me an excellent construction with synthetic leather that ensured a warm inner condition in lightweight breathable boots. The picturesque beauty of the region is coupled with a high risk of boulders rushing down from the top onto the walking routes.
Slippery ups and downs leading to the holy Amarnath shrine become tougher as you climb up in the thin oxygen-scarce environment. Ascending to an altitude of above 12000 feet is no less than a fatiguing task. The Bacca Bucci trekking shoes rescued me safely under every circumstance along a 32 km long stretch. Plus another 14 km descending run took me with a wonder of its solidarity.
The last phase of the adventure was a wet experience. Constant walk under stormy showers and vivid lightning through the dark clouds was inevitable. The security personnel along the path would never allow it to stop for a while as the risk of running down boulders was increasing in the black night hours. Suddenly, I sighed painfully as my right shoe got stuck in a sticky mud under my feet. In a fraction of a phenomenal second, my foot moved with the same rhythmic velocity and the toe collided against the inner wall of the shoe. That intolerable pain would’ve thrown my body on the ground. But thanks to Bacca Bucci I was still in a complete state of balancing and marched on with the same vigour.
The outer rubber cap covering the front facade and on the ankles gave extra protection. The remarkable venture ended in the late evening hours but the toe-nail got darkened by the morning. Blood under the nail clogged and eventually, the whole nail itself was discarded from the toe after a few weeks.
I again commend the Bacca Bucci brand that absorbed the thrust and saved my foot from a massive injury.
